Description

With our new family lablel Domaine de Binet,  Daniel Binet pushes the boundaries of the Hunter’s traditional varieties. Petit Verdot fits that mould and with his 2013 vintage Dan proves that this Bordeaux variety does well in Australia’s oldest region.

This Petit Verdot has an intense nose of spicy, minty dark fruit, coffee and cedary oak. The sweet, dark and fleshy palate is powerful yet stylish showing rich curranty fruit, velvety tannins, refreshing acidity and long cedary persistence.

Tasting Notes

With a literal translation of “little green one”. Petit Verdot is usually blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. On its own, Petit Verdot produces an intensely rich and structured wien with spicy fruit flavours and violet undertones with firm and persistent tannins that provide for cellaring potential.

Dense colour; there’s no question about the sledge hammer petit verdot in this wine, Hunter Valley the dominant influence, but that doesn’t matter much – petit verdot has proved time and time again it enjoys warm to hot growing conditions. Hunter Valley/McLaren Vale.
